Gabriella Persia’s otherworldly works stem from a combined metaphysical spirit as well as being sincerely rooted in the traditions of communication and storytelling. It’s the dynamic between ‘cause and effect’, and the alluded potential that exists in-between these two mighty concepts, that Gabriella draws on through their ethereal painterly style. Elements become both lost and recovered, and an amorphous landscape of blended movements and perspectives are distilled to produce an array of hybrid forms. A quasi-language starts to appear, one that gets carried from piece to piece; becoming enlivened whilst remaining incomplete. Across Gabriella’s works, different kinds of stories are being told; ones that, ultimately, relate back to the derivative concepts of place, people, and the experience of the self. With this, the viewer is left to rationalise the remains of a tale that neither begins nor ends. Gabriella received a First Class Degree in Fine Art from Goldsmiths, University of London and has so far participated in numerous exhibitions around London.
